Hello this question is related to my school project assignment i would like what happens when a core of transformer is laminated.

Why transformers core are laminated.

The iron core transformer has higher permeability thus it is applied in transformer in place of air core in modern transformer. Reduce all above losses. In transformer the eddy current loss is proportional to the square of the diameter of the core larger the diameter more the eddy current loss. A transformer is a passive electrical device that transfers electrical energy from one electrical circuit to another or multiple circuits a varying current in any one coil of the transformer produces a varying magnetic flux in the transformer s core which induces a varying electromotive force across any other coils wound around the same core.

Hence transformer core is laminated so that the net effective diameter of the transformer core reduces and thus eddy current loss can be minimized.
